How Faraway Team collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information.

Effective date: July 20, 2026

Last updated: July 20, 2026

Faraway Team ("Faraway Team," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal information when you visit farawayteam.com, faraway.team, contact us, apply for roles, or use our staff augmentation and dedicated team subscription services (collectively, the "Services").

We are based in Udaipur, India. Our clients are typically located in the United States, Europe, and other jurisdictions. This policy is designed to meet common international expectations, including principles aligned with the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA, and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), where applicable.

By using our website or Services, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the website or Services.

1. Scope and roles

This policy applies to personal information we process as a data controller — for example, when you submit a contact form, request a team, subscribe to our newsletter, or apply for employment with us.

When you become a client and we assign dedicated team members to work under your direction, we may also process personal information on your behalf as a data processor. In those cases, the data processing terms in your client agreement (including any Data Processing Addendum) govern that processing and take precedence over this policy for client-directed work.

Our website is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

We collect information you choose to give us, including:

  • Identity and contact details: name, work email, phone number, company name, job title, and country.
  • Inquiry and onboarding details: team roles, headcount, seniority preferences, budget range, project description, tech stack, and scheduling preferences.
  • Careers information: résumé/CV, portfolio links, employment history, skills, and application materials.
  • Communications: messages, meeting notes, and support requests you send to us.
  • Billing and contracting details: billing contact, tax identifiers, and payment-related information processed through our payment providers (we do not store full payment card numbers on our servers).

2.2 Information collected automatically

When you use our website, we may automatically collect:

  • Device and browser data: IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and language settings.
  • Usage data: pages viewed, links clicked, referring/exit URLs, session duration, and general interaction data.
  • Cookie and similar technology data, as described in Section 9.

2.3 Information from third parties

We may receive information from:

  • Referral partners, investors, or introducers who connect us with prospective clients (with appropriate consent where required).
  • Recruitment platforms, professional networks, and background/reference checks where permitted by law.
  • Analytics, hosting, email, CRM, and payment service providers.
  • Publicly available professional sources used for legitimate business development or recruitment.

2.4 Client systems and work product

Dedicated team members may access systems, repositories, and tools you provide in the course of delivering work for you. We do not use that client environment data for our own marketing purposes. Handling of such data is governed by your instructions and our client agreement.

3. How we use personal information

We use personal information for the following purposes:

  • Providing and operating the Services, including matching, onboarding, and managing dedicated teams.
  • Responding to inquiries, preparing proposals, and communicating about subscriptions.
  • Processing applications and managing our talent pool.
  • Billing, invoicing, accounting, fraud prevention, and compliance with legal obligations.
  • Improving our website, services, and client experience through analytics and feedback.
  • Sending service-related notices and, where permitted, marketing communications (you may opt out at any time).
  • Protecting our rights, enforcing agreements, and resolving disputes.
  • Complying with applicable laws, regulations, lawful requests, and court orders.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects without appropriate safeguards and, where required, your consent.

5. How we share information

We share personal information only as necessary and subject to appropriate safeguards:

  • Service providers and subprocessors who assist with hosting, email, CRM, analytics, payroll, HR, background checks, payment processing, and professional advisors — bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations.
  • Dedicated team members and contractors, to the extent needed to deliver Services you have engaged us for.
  • Prospective clients' designated contacts during sales and onboarding processes you initiate.
  • Affiliates or successor entities in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with notice where required by law.
  • Authorities, regulators, or third parties when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

We may share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify you.

6. International data transfers

Faraway Team is located in India. If you access our Services from the United States, European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or elsewhere, your information may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in India and other countries where our providers operate.

Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, UK International Data Transfer Addendum provisions, or other lawful transfer mechanisms. You may request further information about these safeguards by contacting us.

7. Data retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.

  • Sales inquiries: typically up to 24 months after last contact, unless an active relationship continues.
  • Client records: for the duration of the engagement and thereafter as required for tax, accounting, and legal compliance (often 7 years or as mandated locally).
  • Careers applications: up to 24 months unless you ask us to retain your profile longer or we hire you.
  • Website logs and analytics: typically 12–26 months, depending on the tool.

We may retain anonymized or aggregated data indefinitely.

8. Security

We implement administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. These measures may include access controls, encryption in transit where supported, secure hosting, and staff confidentiality obligations.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of credentials you use to access our Services and for configuring access within your own systems appropriately.

9. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, remember preferences (such as theme settings), understand usage, and improve performance.

  • Strictly necessary cookies: required for core site functionality.
  • Preference cookies: remember choices you make.
  • Analytics cookies: help us understand how visitors use the site.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect site functionality. Where required by law, we will obtain consent before placing non-essential cookies.

10. Your privacy rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights, subject to applicable exceptions:

  • Access: request a copy of personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Deletion: request deletion of personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Restriction or objection: object to or request restriction of certain processing.
  • Portability: receive personal information you provided in a structured, commonly used format where technically feasible.
  • Withdraw consent: where processing is based on consent.
  • Opt out of marketing: use unsubscribe links or contact us.
  • Non-discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights where prohibited by law.
